One of the two types of visas that allow foreigners to work in Turkey is the 1-year “work visa” and the other is the “Montage & Assembly visa” which is the subject of this article.
So what is Montage & Assembly visa? How can Montage & Assembly visa be obtained? Who can apply?
Foreigners who will come to Turkey for the montage, assembly, maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment imported to Turkey, to provide training on its use or to take delivery of the equipment, provided that they do not exceed three months and prove this situation with the documents to be submitted, are required to obtain an “Montage & Assembly Visa” in advance.
A foreigner who enters the country with an “Montage &Assembly visa” for the above-mentioned purposes may work legally for up to 90 days within 1 year within the duration of the visa granted.
No further application is required after entry with an “assembly visa”.
How to get an assembly visa? The assembly visa process is as follows:
Place of Application: Turkish Representative Offices abroad
Application: In the assembly visa application to the relevant Consulate / intermediary institution; Invitation Letter, Assignment Letter and documents proving the nature of the work to be done (contract, sales promise, invoice, customs entry declaration and other documents showing that the work has been undertaken) must be applied in person by the foreign personnel with the application folder.
Duration of work: The foreigner who enters Turkey with an assembly visa can work for a maximum of 90 days from the date of entry (within the visa period granted). Foreign personnel who will work for a longer period of time are required to obtain a “work visa”.
Social Security Obligation ofthe foreigner: Foreigners working up to 90 days are exempt from Social Security obligations. However, the foreigner must be covered by an
international group/accident insurance to avoid any problems in case of a work accident.
E-exemption application: Foreign personnel who enter with a tourist visa without obtaining an assembly visa can work for 90 days as of the date of approval within 30 days from the date of entry within the framework of the eligibility of the application they will make from the Ministry of Labor e-exemption system.
